German pension refund: conditions to check

If you leave Germany, the German pension insurance can refund the contributions you paid, under conditions set in § 210 SGB VI and the social security agreement between Germany and India. Answer a few questions to see which conditions your answers meet and which are still open, with the rule and its source for each.

Your inputs are used only to calculate this result and are not stored. How we handle data

Preview: a Rentenberater hasn't confirmed our reading of these rules yet, so the check shows readings, not rulings: no amounts, no waiting periods, and no verdict. The Deutsche Rentenversicherung decides on application. It doesn't ask how many months you paid in or how long ago you left while the periods in the rules are in review: those numbers would change nothing you see here.

What is your nationality?
Where do you live now?
Are you still compulsorily insured in the German pension insurance, for example because you still work in Germany?
Are you compulsorily insured in a pension scheme outside Germany now?

For example as an EPF member with an employer in India.

Have you reached the standard retirement age in Germany (Regelaltersgrenze)?
Did you work in Germany under an Indian certificate of coverage, sent by an employer in India?
Do you already receive a foreign pension that counted your German periods?

Hear when the check is reviewed

We'll email you once a Rentenberater has reviewed these rules and the check can say more, and occasionally about money across countries. Your answers are not sent with it.

How this works

The check runs on inWst's rules engine: each condition is stored as data with its source in the Sozialgesetzbuch VI (§ 210 SGB VI and the rules it refers to) or the Germany–India social security agreement, and whether it has been reviewed.

Where a condition depends on a period, such as the time since you left the German insurance, the period is part of a rule we haven't confirmed yet. Until a Rentenberater reviews it, the check lists the condition to check and shows no period.

The check never shows an amount. Your answers are sent once, to work out this result. They are not stored and not logged.
