TDS on Indian income
Banks deduct tax on NRO interest and other Indian income before you see it. Getting back what was too much means filing in India.
Residential status
Whether India treats you as resident depends mainly on the days you spend there, and it changes what India taxes.

Questions
Is this only for NRIs in Germany?
No. The lessons about India apply wherever you live. Some lessons and tools are about Germany; they say so.
Does inWst file my ITR?
No. inWst explains how things generally work and shows your own numbers. For your own return, talk to a chartered accountant.
Which free tools are there for NRIs?
Four, free and without an account: which residence tests apply to you, a TDS refund claim checklist, the conditions behind each ITR form, and selling property in India (TDS next to your own gain). They are previews: a chartered accountant hasn't reviewed the rules behind them yet, so they show the rules and their sources for your answers, without tax figures.
Do I have to connect my bank?
No. The lessons and free tools need no account. If you use the app later, you upload statements you download yourself; we never ask for bank passwords.
Where is my data stored?
In the EU, in Germany. Every connection to inWst is encrypted. See our privacy promise.
