Anlage map: where Indian income goes in the German tax return

The German tax return is a main form plus attachments, each called an Anlage, and the forms exist only in German. Pick the kinds of Indian income you had to see which Anlage and section each generally goes in, with every German heading explained in English.

Your numbers stay in your browser. We count anonymous usage, never amounts. What you enter stays in this browser tab and is not added to the page link. How we handle data

Rent from property in India: one of two places

Open question

Where rent from Indian property goes depends on a point inWst's rules still have under review. The question that decides it:

Does the India–Germany tax treaty exempt the rent in Germany, so that it only affects the rate on other income, or does Germany tax the rent and credit the Indian tax? Exempt rent goes to Anlage AUS; taxed rent goes to Anlage V, with the Indian tax in Anlage AUS.

Pre-order

Steuer-Paket Indien

A one-time pack that prepares the Indian income in your German tax return from your own documents. Pre-orders open in January, at an early-bird price of €29.

How this works

The map comes from the same rules as the Indian income checker: each kind of income is linked to the section it generally belongs in, and each section keeps its German heading as printed on the forms, a plain-English explanation and the sources behind it. It runs in your browser from data published with the page; your picks are not sent anywhere.

Headings are taken from the 2025 forms, because the 2026 forms are not published yet. Every entry is marked awaiting review until a Steuerberater has checked it, and rent from Indian property shows both possible places with the question that decides between them.

The map names places, not amounts: it doesn't work out any tax, and it doesn't say whether you have to file.
